A night of honor

The community of Beitbridge including corporate and Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) were treated to a night of honor at a colorful event held to honor the illustrious members of the community.
These were being rewarded for decades of success and having been an example of excellence in 2022.
Zebra Hilltop lodge was a place to be to see all the razz mattaz of Beitbridge, with several sleek motor vehicles makes roaring into the new accommodation facility.
Although the night was that of businesses competing for honors, it appeared the smartly dressed guests were also in another undeclared race to outwit each other with trending fashionable outfits.
The awards ceremony organized by the Beitbridge Business Expo was held for the first time and was done as a stepping stone to raise funds to construct a show ground in the border town of Beitbridge.
The organizing committee chairperson, Dr Anna Muleya said they were looking at having an alternative venue for major events in the town and ease the burden on Dulivhadzimu Stadium.
“We are working with all likeminded members of the community including the Municipality of Beitbridge in ensuring that we achieve our set goals,” she said.
“In addition, the award ceremony is an attempt to unite the Beitbridge and Business Communities at the same time pushing for community development”.
She said the event was a major success considering that all the tickets were sold out.
Among the notable winners, the late town secretary, Dr Sipho Singo who was honored for setting the border town on the road to transformation,
Veteran Journalist, Mr Rex Mphisa was also recognized as a community champion for his determination to continually tell the Beitbridge story.
He was described as one media practitioner who is not afraid to speak out his mind and to speak for the voiceless.
Lotsha FM board chairperson, Mr Mekia Muyambo was recognized for leading his team towards the successful launch of the community radio station in Beitbridge district.
“This a great honor for the Lotsha FM team, we appreciate the recognition of our efforts by our own community, our success depends on how we relate with the community,” he said.
