New Beitbridge passport office excites community members

Residents of Beitbridge have hailed the government for opening a passport processing office in the area as part of its devolution thrust.
The new passport office opened doors in July last year and has cut the distance the community members had to travel to Gwanda, Bulawayo, Gweru, Masvingo and Harare to access such services.
In some instances, they had to sleep in queues of doggy accommodation facilities due to the previous strenuous process.
As a result of the high costs previously involved with travelling, a high percentage of the rural communities preferred to use the illegal routes that incurring travelling costs.
Ms Kundai Bidi told Lotsha FM that was happy with the new state of affairs concerning the passport application process, which had cut the travelling bill for many villagers.
Another applicant, Mr Ndumiso Ndlovu said he has been working in South Africa for years without a passport and he only decided to apply for one following the opening of the Beitbridge passport office.
Scores of other residents shared the same excitement and that the local office was efficient and user friendly compared to other towns.
