MORE than 100 pool players drawn from all over the country have converged at the Jayas Restaurant in Beitbridge for the National Elite Pool Association of Zimbabwe (NEPAZ).
Played on monthly rotational basis from town to town around the country, the tournament spreads the game to grassroots and produces fine players some of whom have featured in international games.
Beitbridge has several players in the tournament but the border town’s hopes are heaped on Peter Madzinga and Polite Manavele capable of bringing glory home.
Rhe games which kicked of at 10am on Saturday also features well known pool players like Bulawayo’s Lindani, Maluva from Harare.
The district sports officer at Beitbridge Loveness Mangore said it is pleasant the town was hosting a tournament of such a magnitude and hoped the games would light up Beitbridge.
“We also encourage them to advise their local sports office. Not that there is anything we want but it is important to make these games official and the office can help publishing the event,” said Mangore.

The tournament games are expected to go deep into the night with 88 players having paid $25 as joing fees.
The games are played on a race to five format and the competition hopes to bring the best player on the land.
