Red Cross trains 20 local girls on primary health care

The Zimbabwe Red Cross Society working with the Zimbabwe Health Interventions (ZHI) have trained 20 female students from especially difficukty circumstances on basic primary health care.
The graduation of the redcross nurses known as nurse aides was held in Beitbridge on Friday.

Communications and Corporate Afairs manager, Mr Stambuli Kim said they conducted intensive training of 20 adolescent girls and young women supported by ZHI under their dreams rise.
He said they ensured that the young adults underwent all the stages of training as well as the pre requisite three months attachment at various health facilities.
Mr Kim said the team were trained on a wide range issues including first aid.
The trained nurse aides are now able to assist the community when disaster or accident strikes through first aid.
The graduates showed that they can assist the community by performing d firs aid related drama.
Mr Kim said first aid was important for everyone especially women because they are exposed to the need for such at home and work.
He urged everyone to make saving lives a basic survival skill.
The District Nursing Officer, Sister Monica Mbawi presided over the graduation ceremony.
She also awarded Ruvimbo Nyakudzva for being the best dressed red cross nurse aide.
Sunungurai Machayi was also rewarded for being the second best student for theory.
Hazvinei Machokoto was judged the best student in both theory and practical.
All students were also awarded with certificates for completing the red cross nurse aid course.
Sister Mbawaonica said the role of these graduates who was to significantly contribute to the community’s health.
She also said they did their training for seven weeks and three months attachment at various health facilities to ensure they receive adequate training and met demands of nurse aid job both internationally and locally.
