A total of 13 teams are set to gather at Chabeta primary school for three days’ soccer and netball tournament that will be between 4 August and 6 August.

The event is being sponsored by a local sports enthusiast, Helper Mukoni and his aim is to promote sports as a profession for most youth around Beitbridge district.

Event organiser, Pius Mushambo told Lotsha FM that everything was now in place to kick start the games.

He said the participating teams were expected to each pay R350 in affiliation fees.

Mushambo said he had committed a sponsorship package of R1500 for the netball tournament.

Affiliation fees for netball teams have been pegged at R150 per team.

“The main reason I am sponsoring these games is to build a foundation for the youngsters and shape their sporting careers,” Mukoni told Lotsha FM.

“You will note that most of these raw talents are not recognized, especially in the rural areas. Additionally, we are doing this project so that we come up with one strong team where big teams can scout for talented players”.

Mukoni said he will also put together an assortment of items to donate to the hosting school. #LotshaFM90.1MHZ
